Blog: Social Networking Sites
The 4 social networking websites I will compare are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (Website version), and Tumblr. These 4 social networking website are very different from each other. Tumblr is a blog where users can post text, videos, pictures, and also reblog other people's post to share the content. Comparing that to the Instagram website, Instagram allows people to post only pictures and videos, and only allows them to like the posts, or comment, or even share it privately to other people. Tumblr and Instagram can be very similar because they both allow users to have their own profiles that consists of posts they created, but Tumblr allows users to show other people's posts on their own profiles.
Facebook and Twitter also have many similarities but also differences. Facebook and Twitter allows users to post a status for everyone in their new's feed to look at. The difference is that Twitter has a character limit on their tweet posts, while on Facebook, you can write as much as you want on your status. On these both websites, it allows users to follow other people, but on Facebook, you can also add people as friends too, but not on Twitter. I honestly think Facebook is a lot better and more organized than Twitter. Facebook is easier to navigate by the way profiles are laid out, while Twitter is just a bunch of tweets and posts, where it can get confusing on who posts what, and who retweeted who. I particularly use Facebook a lot more than Twitter. For Tumblr and Instagram, I do use both for posts inspirations and to share my life experiences and posts. I use them for two different things, as for Instagram, I follow a lot of my friends on their Instagram, and it allows me to connect with them and keep up with their life, as well as update them with mine. For Tumblr, I usually just browse through my new's feed to look at other people's posts, as well as meeting new people by following their Tumblr blog.
These 4 social networking sites are definitely very helpful when connecting to other people. It allows people to keep up with other people's lives without actually having to be there physically. This technology allows people all over the world to connect easily.
